Saigon

The flight today took us to Saigon or as it is known--Ho Chi Minh City.  There were so many feelings about the Vietnam War as we drove through the town.  It is now a city of 10 million people and very modern with all the big name stores--especially MacDonalds.  We toured the presidential palace which is now a museum.  It recounted the last moments of the war on April 30, 1975.  As one could imagine, there was lots happening on this end.
We saw the lpresident's bedroom, office and bunker in the basement.  Because the war ended peacefully in the end, none of these places were bombed.
It was Sunday so we went to Mass at Notre Dame. Cathedral.  Fun to pray with the Vietnamese.
Wow, what a day!
